ADHD-Informed Counselling in Vancouver
Living with ADHD-related challenges can mean working twice as hard to do what others call simple. Missed tasks, time blindness, emotional intensity or inconsistent focus may be followed by shame and a promise to “try harder” next time. ADHD counselling in Vancouver at Dear Therapy is ADHD-informed support for those difficulties, not an assessment or diagnosis.
Difficulties, not character flaws
ADHD counselling can help you understand why certain things keep going wrong without treating them as character flaws. Appointments may focus on realistic systems, emotional regulation, self-advocacy, relationships and the impact of years spent feeling behind. Strategies should suit how you actually work rather than demand another perfect routine.
For example, you might look at why one task keeps getting put off and find a smaller first step, set up reminders or visual cues that you will actually use, plan how to raise what you need with a manager or instructor, or talk through the frustration and shame that can build up after a missed deadline or a forgotten plan.
Scope: this is not a diagnostic assessment
Counselling is not an ADHD diagnostic assessment, and nothing on this page should be read as offering one. If you are seeking a diagnosis or guidance about medication, an appropriately qualified medical or assessment provider is the right place to start. CADDAC, the Centre for ADHD Awareness, Canada, has general information about ADHD. Mandeep is a Registered Clinical Counsellor; she does not diagnose ADHD or prescribe medication. Counselling can run alongside that process, but it does not replace it.
