Grief Counselling in Vancouver
Grief can follow a death, separation, diagnosis, lost future, change in identity or any ending that mattered. It rarely moves in a straight line. Grief counselling in Vancouver offers time to talk about the loss and how it is affecting your life now, without a set timeline.
A day that feels manageable can be followed by one that does not.
What grief counselling in Vancouver may involve
Some people come wanting to talk about the person or what they lost. Others find it hard to describe at all, or feel something they did not expect, such as relief after a long illness or anger at someone they loved. There is room for sadness, guilt, numbness and that complicated mix, and you do not need the right words for it.
If you are not looking for advice, you can say so. Some appointments may be mostly talking and remembering. Others may turn to practical things, such as an anniversary or first holiday, sorting belongings, changed roles in the family or differences in how relatives are grieving.
Company and structure, without a timeline
There is no set point by which you should feel better and no stages you need to move through in order. Grief counselling offers company and structure while you adjust, including finding a continuing connection to the person or what was lost.
What grief can reach into
Grief can affect sleep, concentration, energy and relationships. It can also intensify earlier experiences. Support can be shaped around what is present rather than what grief is “supposed” to look like.
