Fees and coverage
Counselling Fees and Insurance
How to ask about counselling fees, and how payment, direct billing, extended health insurance and ICBC coverage work before you begin.
Free 15-minute consultation
Your first conversation is free. The 15-minute consultation, by phone, by video or in person, is a chance to ask questions and decide whether to book a session. It is not a counselling session and there is no obligation to continue. Book it online through Jane.
Counselling fees
Session fees are not listed on this website. To ask about current fees, call (604) 787-2444, email info@deartherapyvancouver.com or ask during your free consultation.
Payment and receipts
If your plan is not direct billed, you pay the counselling fee for each session and receive a receipt with the information your extended health insurance plan usually asks for when you submit a claim.
Direct billing
Direct billing is available with most major insurers. When it applies, the claim is sent to your insurer on your behalf. Whether it is available depends on your insurer and your plan, and your plan may not cover the full amount, so you may still owe the remaining balance. Ask during your free consultation whether direct billing can be set up for your plan.
Extended health insurance
Coverage varies by plan. Before booking, check with your insurer whether your extended health plan covers services provided by a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), how much it covers per session, your annual maximum and whether a doctor’s referral is required.
ICBC
Dear Therapy is an ICBC-approved provider. If you have been injured in a motor vehicle crash, counselling may be covered through your ICBC claim, depending on your claim and what ICBC approves. It is worth checking with your ICBC adjuster or claim contact before you start, and having your claim number ready when you book.

Your counsellor
Mandeep Virk, MA, RCC
Mandeep is currently the only counsellor at Dear Therapy, so the person you speak with on the consultation call is the person you would see for sessions. You can read about how she works and her credentials before deciding whether to book.
